Our journey into the world of coffee launched several decades ago with a career in catering throughout various locations including Sheffield, London, Bristol, and Manchester. During a 20-year diversion from catering to work in commercial aviation it became apparent that aviation primarily operates on two fuels, kerosene and coffee. Unfortunately, the coffee served in aviation often tasted awful, resembling kerosene.

Ground Effect Coffee is "Hand Roasted," which means it's roasted manually rather than through automated machinery. This hands-on approach guarantees continuous attention to quality and standards. This is complemented by the use of advanced technology and equipment, such as a sample roaster, refractometry, profile tracking, and Agtron analysis. Personal skills and experience are further augmented through training at The London School of Coffee, the UK's premier Specialty Coffee Association accredited training provider.

Our mission at Ground Effect Coffee Roasters is the continual quest for fabulous coffee to fuel your journey. We maintain a constant focus on development, improving flavour, quality, and customer satisfaction.

ESG Statement

Our production and supply chain maintains a constant focus on environmental and societal concerns. All of our bags and packaging are fully recyclable. The coffee supply chain has historically been exploitative in both human and environmental terms. However, excellent work has been ongoing over the last few decades to ensure that farmers and supply chains are properly remunerated, while also ensuring that the environmental footprint is as sustainable as possible. Many global programmes exist which we fully endorse and strive to ensure our supply chain is compliant with as many of these programs as possible.
